I struggled to write the summary for this one. Talking about our human need for connection and kinship is a topic that’s so visceral for me, my mind finds it hard to translate into words.
🕸️ It feels like trying to take a spider web and condense it into a single thread — the magic is lost in the process of the simplifying.
In modern life, we can find ourselves surrounded by people yet still feeling lonely or disconnected. So our mind spins up our nervous system, frantically seeking to fill our internal gaping hole from the external world around us (scrolling, eating, drinking, staying busy, being around people we don’t belong with, addictive substances, etc).
In my experience, we’re actually craving a deeper, nourishing connection that can only be found through cultivating a direct relationship with nature, our gateway to connecting with the greater web of life. 🌿
Our body and heart yearn for kinship with the the web of life - the living world around us, and the unseen of Soul/Spirit/The Divine/Creator (or whatever word you use for the unseen greater force that connects us all). 🌀
Connecting with the natural world tunes us into to our Soul/our sense of purpose so we know what is our part in making the world a better place for all beings. 🌎
In this episode, I’m sharing some of the essentials of human nervous system biology and connection to give you insight into how you can work with your physiology to cultivate safety for the kind of connection that truly nourishes you. 💖
I am curious to hear about your experience:
When you share what works for you, it inspires others to try and find something new that works for them too. Please share in the comments!
When do you feel the most connected to something supportive, and larger than yourself (whatever your word is for your Soul, The Divine, Spirit, Creator, etc)?
Where do you find a sense of returned kinship when you are out in the natural world?
Do you find it challenging to connect with nature, if so, why do you think that is?
