Tonight's New Moon is a deep invitation to your heart 🌚🔥
Time to tap into the boundless creativity and energy of your heart 💖
This New Moon tonight is a special one: it’s the rare second new moon in the fiery, pioneering energy of Aries.
What this means is that there’s an invitation for us to really look at where we feel in integrity with who we are:
❤️ Does our sense of Self feel good in our bones?
🌎 Is our sense of who we are being reflected back to us from the external world?
🤨 Or does something feel off, like we’re not quite in alignment?
🌀 Is there a part of our heart and soul that yearns for something different within us and in our lives?
💥 Is there somewhere we could be choosing to bring some new aspect of ourselves forward?
I've learned some big lessons this past month about what it feels like to be in rhythm with my soul, and knowing where I was trying too hard to be in rhythm with ego-comparisons to the outside world.
Read on to find out how I did it.
Finally learning horse sense
Did you know that horses are used in therapy because they are deeply intuitive and easily reflect our sense of self within? They will check your shit in a heartbeat.
👉 Don’t trust yourself inside? The horse can feel that and will not trust you either.
👉 Having a shitty/angry day when you show up? Good luck getting an 1800 lb animal to do want you want by shouting and shoving.
👉 Feeling anxious to please the horse, trying all the “tricks”, so it will like you? It will ignore you like an annoying fly to swat.
I’ve been reading about the incredibly deep emotional healing that comes from Equine Therapy and how much overlap it has with the type of energy and soul healing work I do with clients. When you ride a horse, you are literally sitting in the energy field of its heart. And that’s got me really, really curious.
Learning to ride while a horse is at speed is about finding a rhythm of how your bodies move together (so you don’t end up on the ground).
You’re developing muscle memory, similar to how you learn to ride a bike, except it’s in relationship to a living being. I also find this learning process really similar to learning to surf, which funny enough, is another passion I am in the midst of learning.
The moment we get lost in our heads, is when things get out of rhythm again. Rhythm comes from an innate, instinctive sense within your body - you have to feel it, not think it.
So I have to catch myself when I get into my head during a lesson - I am learning to be super present to my body and what it is doing in relationship to the horse. And the moment my ego catches me messing up, chiding me “Damn it, get back in rhythm!”, is the moment it gets even worse.
But when I release expectation of it needing to be perfect right now, I can feel for the rhythm, by checking in with my body and the flow of how I am moving with the horse. When I adjust my body to shift what isn’t working, without any mental narrative, that is when it begins to click again.
Whether it’s learning to ride a horse or surf, these passions are lighting up my heart AND retraining my mind and ego to slow the fuck down and be present in the current moment of what my body is experiencing.
And yes, that really is the simplest metaphor for living life. To be present enough to what we are experiencing to get curious, learn from it, and treat ourselves (and others) with compassion when we get off balance.
So what does all this have to do with tonight’s New Moon?
This is the second new moon in Aries - asking us to look at whether how we’re living our life is integrity with our sense of Self, the core of who we are.
Are we out of rhythm with who our heart and soul wants to be, allowing our Ego to boss us around, holding us to harsh expectations by comparing us to others? “Come on, that 5 year old over there can do this better than you!”
🌺 What can be shed tonight to allow a more authentic version of you to unfold?
💝 What are you doing for the sake of pleasing others (family, society, culture, religion, etc) that your heart doesn’t have the energy to sustain anymore?
Or what quiet longing have you nursed for years that it’s time to honor within you? Deciding to move to a new city or climate? Learning a new passion? Having/adopting kids? Starting a new business? Writing a book? Planning a big trip? Adopting a new animal?
💥 It’s never too late, and you’re never too old. If your heart really wants it, you’ll find a way. It’s taken me 36 years to finally manifest my dream of learning to ride and care for horses. It’s taken me 27 years to finally begin to learn to surf. And I am loving every minute of both of them - including the hard parts.
When it comes from the heart, we have boundless energy and creativity on our side to make things happen and move through the challenges!
What dream are you ready to finally breathe into life tonight?
🌚 Go outside alone and speak it into the darkness of the new moon. And when you are ready, take one tangible step to set that dream into motion, even if in some very small way.
🔥 I’d love to hear what that is for you! And ask your partner, kids, and friends too. What lights a joyful fire in their heart?
For me? I know I’m on the edge of something new an wonderful, but have no idea what it is just yet. I do know I’m having a lot of fun and engaging my deep sense of wonder while I’m learning from some special new horses in my life.
