Last night, my mind said “the beach will be rainy, don’t go”, but my heart knew I needed to go. They argued, and naturally my heart won.
The stunning light show that unfolded for sunset, despite it being too stormy to see the sun, was nothing short of incredible. When we allow our heart to lead, then pay attention and show up, it will show us right where the magic is.
All too often we can allow our mind to set expectations for our day – what we’re *supposed* to do, when to do it, and who needs to be involved. The mind is great at talking us into all kinds of things that we later aren’t so sure were actually what we needed: taking that job, going on that date, spending a sunny day inside cleaning house rather than enjoying some fresh air and sunshine… you get the idea.
What would happen if before each decision you made you closed your eyes, took a breath into your heart, and asked “Is this a Hell Yes?”
Because the heart will answer from a higher place - the one that’s in alignment with your soul and purpose in this life. The place that ensures you’re taking care of you and not just those around you and your to-do list. The place that ensures you’re also nourishing yourself with love, laughter, playtime, and rest.
And the more we practice pausing to ask from a heart space what our decision is, the better we get at feeling the difference between a strong yes that can open the door to a wonderful opportunity and a strong no that isn’t going to serve us.
The more we align with the Hell Yes, the more we are being authentic and in our integrity, so that life will offer us more things and people and opportunities that will really light us up and will nourish us. The more effortless it becomes to feel where we belong without even having to think about it.
There’s a lot of wisdom that comes from our intuition and our instincts, and we can only connect with it by feeling it in our body. When we take the time to slow down and connect with that sense we can’t always explain - but know from the inside when we’re peaceful and still - we access a powerful place within ourselves.
How would your life look different if for an entire day you only said yes to the things and people that were a “Hell Yes?”. What kinds of new doors might open for you?
